I'm packing for an Alaskan Cruise next week. Thought I'd put together a capsule wardrobe for the upcoming trip to help visualize what we are going to bring. Let me know how you packed when you went.

How to Pack a Capsule Wardrobe for Your Alaska Adventure

Planning a cruise to Alaska? Trust us — layering is the name of the game! The weather can swing from sunshine to chilly rain in a matter of hours, so a smart, versatile capsule wardrobe will keep you ready for anything without overpacking.

Here’s how to create the perfect Alaska cruise capsule wardrobe:

👉 Stick to a Cozy Color Palette
Think warm neutrals like beige, brown, black, and denim blue. These tones mix and match easily, helping you create different outfits with fewer pieces.

👉 Pack Smart Layers
Bring 4 pairs of interchangable bottoms — jeans, casual pants, joggers, and waterproof pants — and rotate between cozy long sleeves, t-shirts, long sleeve shirts and a few lightweight sweaters. !

👉 Outerwear is Essential
Pack a waterproof rain jacket or puffer jacket and poncho for your off the ship adventures. These two will be your best friends for chilly port days and scenic glacier cruising.

👉 Don’t Forget a Dressier Outfit for dinner!
One versatile dress that pairs well with a scarf and a sweater covers you for evenings when you want to feel a little dressy but still stay cozy. For your the males, a pair of khaki or colored pants with a button up top will be a nice option for evening dinners.

👉 Choose the Right Shoes
Three (no more than 4 if you have room) pairs are all you need: waterproof hiking shoes, casual sneakers, and a comfy pair of dressy flats for evening wear.

👉 Base Layers

Don't forget your base layers if you're going to venture off the ship. Layers are always helpful in staying warm. You can always remove  top layers if you're too warm. It's better to be too warm than cold, you can always remove layers.

👉 Accessorize Wisely
Two hats (one beanie, one baseball cap or sunhat) plus a lightweight scarf and gloves will help you adjust to the weather in seconds. If your ears and head are warm, that will make a big difference.

With about 20–22 thoughtfully chosen pieces, you’ll have enough outfit options to feel stylish, comfortable, and 100% adventure-ready — all while keeping your luggage manageable.

Ready to set sail? Your Alaska adventure wardrobe is now one less thing to worry about! 🧳🌲
